Part of owning a racehorse from the very beginning is being involved in giving your horse a racing name and we thoroughly enjoy holding naming mornings for our youngsters as they near their potential debuts.
On 23rd March we enjoyed a morning on the Newmarket gallops with the Owners of our 2-year old filly by Lope De Vega. In training with Marco Botti this horse is making pleasing progress with her full training and this morning she cantered up the stiff Warren Hill gallop, leading a small group.
Marco is delighted with her progress and attitude and believes she is on track to make her racecourse debut this Summer.
After watching their filly at exercise, Owners then returned to the yard to see her be washed down and receive a debrief from her rider. We then returned to the office for light refreshments and raised a glass of champagne as Lady De Vega was voted the winning name by her Owners. This has been confirmed by the BHA.
Lady De Vega is likely to enjoy a short maturity break this April before her training steps up to the next level. These types of breaks are great for a young horses mind and body and we look forward to her return in May.
