21st November 2016, Jockey Martin Harley
Since returning to action this season, Velvet Revolution has gone from strength to strength and it has been an absolute delight to watch!
Velvet Revolution bounced back after 157 days away from the track with a gutsy win on the line, he followed this up with an unlucky 4th in late October at Nottingham and then proved that stepping up in trip and class was no match for him as he won his second career race at Chelmsford on 21st November.
Martin Harley gave this son of Pivotal a sensational ride, sitting patiently throughout the race as Velvet Revolution relished the strong gallop. On the turn for home you could see just how easy our boy was travelling and as he crept up from third last to third place, Martin gave the horse a little shake of the reins and Velvet Revolution picked up gamely pulling clear to win eased down by a comfortable 5 lengths. It was evident that the 2 miles suited this horse and he could even make a nice hurdler in the future.
After the race Martin Harley said “The race was run completely in the horse’s favor and he was nice and relaxed throughout. The way he moved and handled the AW was impressive and I feel he has improved massively from his first win at Windsor.”
The Racing Post’s comments were also extremely complimentary:
VELVET REVOLUTION created a tremendous impression here when streaking away with this competitive-looking contest. He has been gradually improving while stepping up in trip and, with some decent relatives in the family, there should be plenty to come from this 3yo and he is not one to lightly oppose, even though he will be hit hard for this.
We could not be happier for Velvet Revolution’s connections and his trainer Marco Botti. There certainly looks to be more to come from this progressive 3-year old gelding, however with limited options available Marco would now like to give Velvet Revolution a short break.. Marco has said “if we can win again off of our new mark, then we can start to get excited about this horse’s future and look to target some decent races.” We cannot wait for 2017 already!
