A massive congratulations to connections of Spirit D’Aunou as he completes the 4-timer and wins comfortably at Chepstow on 15th April 2023.
The horse was beautifully turned out by groom Lisa and definitely knew he was at the races as he walked around the paddock on his toes. He went down to post calmly and was given an excellent ride by Niall Houlihan who kept his cool as Bertie’s Wish went soaring off ahead. Spirit D’Aunou travelled in a prominent position throughout, jumping his hurdles beautifully and it was impressive to see when given a squeeze how quickly he put space between himself and the rest of the field in the home straight. He just had the long time leader in his sights but quickly passed him and went onto win for the 4th time this season incredibly comfortably.
Both trainer Gary Moore and Niall were full of praise for the young horse post race and feel “he’s continued to improve this season and his future certainly looks bright.”
Spirit has come out of his recent win in great form and he will now be wound down to enjoy a very much deserved summers break. He will be back in ridden work from July time and ready for racing again come the autumn. We cannot wait to see what he can do next season but for now we thank him for a hugely enjoyable season this year and to Gary and his team, especially groom Lisa and regular work rider Anna.
