30 years of HOTSR celebration

2025 sees 30 years of Heart of the South Racing successfully running syndicates, and it was a joy to celerate such a monumental occasion with 150 of our Owners, Trainers and dearest friends from over the years!

The weather kindly stayed dry for us as we welcomed guests to Beggars Barn for the afternoon. After a welcome drink and catch up with fellow Owners, a very delicious hog roast buffet was enjoyed before Eloise & Sam took to the microphone to distribute the winning mementos won by our horses in the last 18 months. We had some beautiful prizes courtesy of Court In The Act, Bridge, Spirit D’Aunou, Storm Free, King Of Ithaca, Kotari and Alpha Crucis and they went home with some very happy Owners!

We also took the time to reflect on the past 30 years of HOTSR from our first winner (Captain Coe in 1996) to our most favourite memories that have been created over the years. We thanked founder of HOTSR, John Penny with his own replica trophy from Goodwood when Alpha Crucis won his Class 2 contest in 2024 (he did purchase the horse after all!) and Caroline Penny who puts so much into these events to make them that extra bit special!

It was lovely to have trainers James Tate, Harry Derham & Jamie Moore in attendance to share the day and a real highlight was seeing our 8-time winning ex-racehorse Waikiki Waves thoroughly enjoying his retirement out in the paddocks.

We are so proud and thankful to have been running Heart of the South Racing for all of these years & pride ourselves on our honesty, communication, importance of horse welfare and just having fun! Here’s to the next 30 years!!
