Congratulations to Owners of Lover Desbois on his first and extremely impressive victory!
We have always dreamed Lover Desbois is a decent horse in the making, but at Kempton he gave us hope that such a dream might just come true! From looking an absolute picture in the preliminaries, relaxing yet travelling a dream during the race, to picking up quickly and showing some serious quickening speed, to eating up every last oat the next day – it really was a race full of positives!
Harry was adamant this was the right target for Lover and had been confident of our chances. Needless to say he remains over the moon, and reiterates that although the horse had done plenty on the gallops, he is still not 110% hard fit so hopefully there is more improvement to enjoy next time out. His next target will be the £100,000 Goffs Bumper race at Newbury on 21st March.
Having such an excellent jockey booking in Finny Maguire really helped us too, and it was another cool yet educating ride from a proper Irish horseman. Finian was full of praise post-race and said “you have a lovely horse and he made my life easy. I gave him a couple at the end to ensure he did his job but he sure did take off.”
Of course this win was most welcome for HOTSR and a number of owners who were also owners of the lovely Wertpol, and we are delighted for everyone concerned. A victory to be remembered for a long time for sure.
