23rd May 2018, Jockey Harry Bentley
A massive congratulations to connections as Dragons Voice proves what a tough and game horse he is to land his fourth career win at Kempton Park. He has such a heart and we are thrilled for everyone involved, especially trainer Philip Hide who has done a great job with this horse.
With the ground too firm Philip made the decision to run Dragons Voice on the all weather and drop him back in trip to 1m and what a call from our trainer. Dragons Voice was fast away from the stalls, he settled into a handy position and traveled well throughout. You can see at the 2f marker the horse starts to hit a flat spot, but Harry Bentley gently rides him through it before applying the pressure to which Dragons Voice responded to so incredibly gamely, digging deep to get up on the line. It was a fine ride from Harry once again!
Harry’s comments were “he is a gutsy horse! He just kept on giving me more and stayed right the way to the line. I think you could step up him in trip next time.”
Philip Hide was understandably thrilled and feels there is still more to come from this progressive 4-year old. He didn’t disgrace himself last time out in a competitive Class 3 at Newbury, and hopefully we can enjoy some more thrilling days out at the races with Dragons Voice!
Congratulations to all once again! We feel incredibly lucky to have such an honest horse on our hands – they aren’t easy to come by!
