29th March 2019, Jockey Jamie Moore
With only four races over fences under his belt, and winning three of the four – I think it is safe to say Waikiki Waves has taken to fences extremely well! A massive well done to his connections as this gutsy horse wins again at Fontwell Park on 29th March!
Going into the race Gary was concerned over the slightly shorter trip combined with a lot of early pace in the race and the drying out ground. As expected the horse was outpaced in the first part of the race, but as the pace started to slow he was able to creep into contention, jumping as boldly as ever and giving his all up the Fontwell hill. He went onto win comfortably under an excellent ride from Jamie Moore!
Jamie was delighted and said “I cannot believe that he has done that. Big horses usually get better over a fence, not little horses so full credit to the horse! He is game and genuine and gave his all today.”
Gary was also pleased with the performance and said “I though there were a few factors against him today so the horse is a true testament to himself to go on and win like he did.” Gary is keen to race Waikiki Waves once more this season.
