13th October 2024 – Jockey Jason Watson
After winning at the course 19 days previously and receiving a 9lbs hike it was wonderful to see Alpha Crucis with his head in front again at Goodwood on 13th October – well done Alf!
The young horse was reunited with Jason Watson and under a cool, confident and perfectly timed ride (with just the slight few seconds of worry during his usual flat spot (which was as Rhoscolyn made a challenge) Alpha Crucis never really looked in doubt to be honest. The pair seemed to ooze confidence throughout the race and it was just lovely to watch! Alf really showed how game, honest and tough he is and we are so pleased for everyone involved.
Alpha Crucis has come out of his win very well and it will be up to the horse to tell us whether he wants to race once more this season or not before enjoying a break.
Some more good news is the Alpha Crucis syndicate will continue for another season and it looks like we have a Goodwood specialist on our hands – praying for a wet Glorious Goodwood in 2025 already as soft/heavy ground is certainly his forte!
