On Saturday 19th August, we were joined by 130 of our owners as we enjoyed our Summer BBQ at Beggars Barn. This was the largest number of owners we have ever had at an owner event and we were so pleased that all of our owners had a great time!
The highlight of the day for us had to be seeing three of our retired racehorses looking sensationally well in retirement and we cannot thank their owners Lin Stone, Sar Cassidy-Hill and Beccy Green enough for bringing them along, it really menat a lot to us! Home bred Imperial Ruby has been cleaning up in the ROR (Retraining of Racehorses) classes and after being crowned Champion at Hickstead he now heads to Aintree. Legendary chaser Fruity O’Rooney has been a revelation in the cross country and show jumping world (which comes as no surprise to us!) and the lovely Mohanad looked outstanding in his new life-long home with Lin Stone where he is a happy hack.
Our owners also got to meet the next generation of Heart of the South horses. These will be our 2-year olds for 2018 and include a colt by Epaulette who is a half brother to 5-time winner Good Luck Charm (he will be trained by Gary Moore) and another colt by Paco Boy ex Danehill Revival (his trainer is to be confirmed.) Shares in both yearlings will be available on our website very soon!
The hog roast dinner was cooked beautifully and we had a flurry of tasteful puddings to devour! We also distributed our many mementos that our horses have won over the last 18 months amongst their owners (Raven’s Lady was definitely the star of these with 5 prizes available to owners!)
Despite a lot of organisation and hard work going into this BBQ, the team at Heart of the South Racing thoroughly enjoyed the day and were thrilled that so many of our owners could be there. Thank you for your continued support!
Our next owner event of 2017 will be a trip to the New Sussex Equine Hospital in Ashington on Friday 10th November. Spaces are limited so call us to book now.
Thank you so much to Emma for the below outstanding photographs. I think you will agree that they capture a lovely story! Please give Emma’s Facebook Page a like!

Fabulous day. Thank you very much. Had a delightful time and appreciated Sam taking the time in meeting us in the morning to say hello to Sisania and some of the other HOTSR stars at Gary’s.

What a fantastic afternoon it was. How wonderful to see our 3 ex racehorses looking so fab and clearly enjoying their new regime. Thank you too for pulling my name out for Sisania’s champagne. Thank you Heart of the South.
