31st May 2012, Jockey Harry Bentley
Bheleyf scored the first win of her career at Brighton and it was the first leg of a first Heart of the South double, so it was a fantastic day!
Bheleyf’s trainer Joe Tuite has always thought a lot of this filly. She was a particularly early two year old and ran her first race on day one of the new flat season. That form has been franked by Ceiling Kitty, 2 lengths in front of us that day, who went on to win twice and to win the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2012.
On Bheleyf’s second outing she got tired on the heavy ground but this time she really made her experience count with a very professional display. She went off second favourite behind the Hannon runner Boleyn, but our jockey Harry Bentley got first run and went a couple of lengths clear. Boleyn ran on really well up the hill but Bheleyf stuck her neck out and hung on to win with just inches to spare!
