16th March 2019, Jockey Leighton Aspell
After many sleepless nights of worry, endless patience and plenty of loyalty from Owners, it was a complete thrill to see it all finally come together for Cilaos Glace as he won his first race over hurdles in an impressive style at Fontwell Park!
Under a great ride from Leighton Aspell the pair set off with Flaminger for company as Cilaos Glace travelled strongly. He still has lots to learn and his jumping was a little novicey at times but this was down to him pulling hard and not respecting his hurdles. On the final bend Leighton slackened the reigns slightly and the horse pulled away with ease. To say he won well would be a huge understatement (33 lengths to be precise!) and we are so delighted for all involved.
Leighton’s feedback post race was “he was full of power today and racing prominently suits him. I’d stick with 2miles for now where there should be more wins to come.”
Cilaos Glace was raised 3lbs to a handicap rating of 118 and has been sound and well since his race. We are already eagerly awaiting his next start and hope to see him go on from this stylish win. Well done Booty!
