25th June 2020, Jockey Stefano Cherchi
Congratulations to connections of Lady De Vega as she scores her first career success at Leicester Racecourse and gives us our first winner since racing has resumed in the UK!
It was this 3-year old’s handicap debut and first race on the turf and she looked as fit as a fiddle going into the race. The filly loaded into the stalls well, broke fine and travelled nicely tracking the favourite. The race did get a little messy at times with Lady De Vega racing a little green, then getting short of room and seeming to stumble 3f from home but once the gap become available and jockey Stefano Cherchi got the filly together and asked for more we were thrilled to see her pick up for him and win a little cosily!
We felt Stefano rode this quirky filly well and he was delighted saying “she saw the 1m2f out well, she appeared to enjoy the ground and hopefully she will build on this.”
Trainer Marco Botti was also delighted for connections and we would like to thank him and his team (especially Eric) and also Yarmi for all of the homework that has gone into Lady De Vega.
The filly has come out of the race fresh and well. She certainly looks capable of more and we cannot wait for the rest of the season ahead!
