17th April 2023, Jockey Jason Watson
Congratulations to connections of Alpha Crucis as he made his handicap debut at Windsor on 17th April and won for the first time in a convincing manner!
The horse was calm and collected in the preliminaries and whilst he was a little slow to stride when leaving the gates, he travelled beautifully in a position behind the leaders. At the 2f pole jockey Jason Watson took the horse down the centre of the course and he did race a little green at times. However as Jason gently applied the pressure it was encouraging to see Alpha Crucis respond and after just one flick of the whip he went onto win his first race of his career cosily.
Jason was delighted describing the horse as “a dude to ride who is set to improve over 1m2f.”
Trainer Gary Moore is on fire at the moment and Alpha Crucis was his 20th winner of the month! He was equally pleased with the horse and feels there is improvement to come from this young horse on soft ground and over more of a trip.
Congratulations to his Owners and a big thank you to Gary and his team – especially groom Steve and regular work rider Anna! It was a great start to Alpha Crucis’ season and it looks at though there are more fun days to be had with this horse!
