15th August 2019, Jockey Sean Levey
There was not a dry eye in the winners enclosure at Lingfield Park and it meant so much to those that have been involved with this 10yo since he was a young age. He was born and bred at home and over the last 8 seasons, Good Luck Charm has given his Owners a memorable career. Congratulations to his connections on his ninth victory which saw the horse sore home, putting the younger legs to shame!
Jockey Sean Levey was a little concerned about the kickback but trainer Gary Moore told him to “ride the horse for luck” and he did just that! The pair settled towards the rear of the field as Good Luck Charm travelled ever so strongly. He was cantering around the final bend and as Sean brought the horse wide he found an encouraging turn of foot and powered home under a hand and heels ride to be a comfortable winner!
Sean’s comments were “the old boy knows his way around and the race played to his strengths today. He relished the fast early pace and came home well!”
Trainer Gary Moore has had this horse in his yard since 2011 and it is safe to say he has a soft spot for this boy. He said “I think the world of him and am chuffed for the old boy and his connections to still see him winning races. There aren’t many horses that win a race a season! They went too quick in front and it fell lovely for him. It just goes to show when he puts it all in he is miles too good for these.”
Good Luck Charm has come out of his race well and hopefully we can see him achieve his 10th career win before he enjoys a long and happy retirement. We absolutely adore this horse!
