These are very challenging times for everyone and we sincerely hope you are all keeping safe and well.
Here at Heart of the South Racing it is very much business as usual with Eloise & Sam in frequent contact with each other and our trainers and Owners are continuing to be kept fully updated on their horses. Sam is working from home, whilst Eloise is experiencing the joys of home schooling with a new found respect for teachers and a new love for wine!
Our communication with our Owners has always been second to none and we would like to think it has strengthened further during times of isolation. Updates with a twist, photographs, fact files on each of our horses, phone calls to Owners for a catch up and video montages are just a number of ways we are keeping our Owners informed. We feel these are hugely important for the NH horses on holiday, the flat horses still in full training and the 2-year olds enjoying a short maturity break and we thank everyone who has shared clips/photos etc with us.
On the financial side of things we are doing our best to continue to look after our Owners and horses the best we can whilst still supporting our trainers. We have reduced our management fee which has been well received.
A big thank you to our Owners for their patience, understanding and co-operation. We really are so lucky to have such lovely and devoted Owners and we cannot wait to see you all again – we will certainly enjoy a glass of champagne together when this is all over!
As for the Heart of the South Racing team we are coping as well as can be. Many of you will know Mr John Penny, founder of HOTSR, and will have seen him at the races many times. John unfortunately spent a few days in hospital after contracting COVID-19 but we are so pleased to report he is now back home with Caroline. He will be on box rest for a while but is on a slow and steady road to recovery. Thank you for all of your well wishes. Eloise & Sam and their families continue to remain well.
We would like to not only send a gigantic thank you to the key workers such as the NHS, shopkeepers, teachers, police etc but we would also like to acknowledge and thank the racing staff. Horses are live stock who still need to be looked after and ridden each day and thank you so much to each and every person who is doing just that and keeping the show on the road whilst respecting the social distancing measures. Once again their hard work and dedication is admirable!
We look forward to seeing you all again in the not so distant future. If we can be of any further assistance then please contact us:

In the meantime stay at home, stay safe and keep talking x
