There isn’t a horse who could deserve a win more than this one so it was brilliant to see Lightning Spirit win her third race!
This horse has been somewhat unlucky throughout 2013; meeting softer conditions, getting stuck behind horses and trying different styles of how to ride her which weren’t particularly working so we are delighted it has all come together today and the filly has got her nose in front for her owners.
Trainer Gary Moore was adamant Lightning Spirit had to run today as she had worked so well the previous Saturday morning and he had said “she goes into the race in very good form.”
Jockey George Baker gave Lightning Spirit a great ride, from last to first – exactly the same style she had won with last time at Brighton. She prefers the fast early pace as it really works in her favour, allowing her to fly down the outside when other horses are beginning to tire. She went on to win by a comfortable one and a half lengths.
