30th April 2016 Jockey Ted Durcan
Marmalady wins easily at Goodwood, going from last to first in a 0-95 handicap over 5 furlongs. It was her first race for new trainer Robert Cowell and the mare couldn’t have made it look easier!
To be honest, the win was somewhat unexpected as although the mare has been working well at home, she is still carrying a bit of condition and holding onto her winter coat slightly. Obviously her willingness and genuine nature overcome this and she won pulling away from the field. It was a day we will not forget in a while! A winner at Goodwood is always so good!
Marmalady was well handicapped today, 3lb below her last win, but she certainly looks capable of plenty more. Our dream is to pick up some Black Type with her before she retires to stud…..and the dream lives on!
A big thank you to Goodwood Racecourse for all their hospitality. A decent amount of Owners & Trainers badges, plenty of Champagne post race, a beautiful winning memento and complimentary raceday photos which you can see below. A first class service.

Very well done. We owned Relative Order who was out of Aunt Ruby , who you know well. Our last horse was Arctic Lynx who was ultimately trained by Robert Cowell & I think you have chosen the best trainer of a sprinter !!
Pity your video shows a Brighton win , not the Goodwood race, but well done

Thanks Steve for your message, nice to hear from you again. We were delighted with Marmalady’s win and have been very impressed with the set-up at Robert Cowell’s. He certainly does things very differently and owners are enjoying the ownership experience with him.
We had a few technical difficulties but the Goodwood race is now showing in the post above.
Best wishes,
Eloise

That really was an impressive turn of foot. Robert Cowell is the master now of super sprinters and can’t wait to see her at Epsom on Derby Day. Congratulations a you lucky owners.

Thanks Anne, she is such a speedy mare! She will most likely need to win again before Epsom (if she is to get in) but the dream is still alive!
I hope all is well with you? Look forward to seeing you at the races again soon.
Best wishes,
Eloise
