27th April 2013, Jockey Hannah Grissell
This was our first Point to Point winner and what a fabulous day it was! 10-year old Peplum was our first venture into the world of Point to Point and was trained by Tina Cook in Findon, West Sussex.
The horse proved to be consistent during his first season, placing in some competitive races so it was really fantastic to see Peplum get his nose in front at Parham (a track he seems to really enjoy.) It is a less testing track at Parham and this combined with better ground and some sunshine on his back, allowed us to see the horse win well.
Peplum travelled brilliantly throughout the race and jumped ever so well, and actually won comfortably in the end. Point to Point jockey Hannah Grissell gave the horse a fabulous ride and after the race said “he gave me such a nice feel and jumped brilliantly, he certainly enjoyed himself out there, as did I!”
Huge congratulations to trainer Tina Cook, on her first winner as a point to point trainer. She loves Peplum and has always maintained he can win a point to point – and she was right!
