Since purchasing Bridge in 2023 he has been an absolute joy of a horse to be involved with! During his first season hurdling this son of Golden Horn has won and notched up several placed efforts and we really cannot wait for next season with him!
Bridge was lightly raced when we purchased him with just 6 runs under his belt on the flat. He began his career at the deep end in a hot contest at Newmarket over 7f and since then he’s been upped in trip, placed twice and has raced against some really nice horses including Group 3 winner Epictetus, Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes winner Nostrum and 2-time Group 3 winner Arrest. His last outing can be discounted as he ran far too freely after being gelded only a month previous (which Gary feels is too soon mentally and physically for any horse.)
He is by Group 1 Derby & Coral Eclipse winner Golden Horn – a stallion Gary cannot speak highly of! He says “not only does Golden Horn have a good track record both on the flat and over sticks, but he produces lovely sorts who are genuine, uncomplicated and can go on any ground – and Bridge is one of them!” The Dam Sadilla is a Black Type winning mare in Italy over 1m2f on heavy ground. Bridge was her first foal, and she has also produced a 2022 filly by 4-time Group 1 winner Cracksman.
Bridge has not put a hoof wrong since arriving at Gary’s yard and he seems to really enjoy his new job over hurdles. He made his hurdling debut in a competitive contest at Kempton in October before following this up with an improved run at Warwick (where he settled a little better early on) and again at Huntingdon last time out.
Evidently he’d learnt from these 3 runs when winning for the first time over hurdles at Fontwell Park on Boxing Day under Caoilin Quinn. Bridge was keen during the early part of his race but once given daylight he travelled strongly and was the only one remaining on the bridle. He gave an impressive victory on ground that wasn’t thought to be to his liking and it was a lovely Christmas treat for his Owners!
Since then Bridge has finished in the winners enclosure on three more occasions and has really taken to his hurdling career well. He is such an honest horse who really does give his all and he will now be rewarded with a short break before returning in October to likely race on the flat before going hurdling again.
