King Of Ithaca is a 4-time winning 5-year old by Group 1 winner Ulysses who is in training with Newmarket based trainer James Tate who has got this horse right back to form!
Purchased at the Tattersalls Book 3 Yearling Sales, this flashy horse is a well put together individual by popular Stallion Ulysses and out of a 4-time winning Dam, Rhagori, who has produced many winners.
King Of Ithaca’s original trainer Marco Botti was attracted to the horse’s pedigree in particular as he knows the family extremely well having trained the winning half brother Aljari (rated 95.) The horse (just like his brother) is a character and a little quirky but he holds a very positive race record to this date!
His first win came at Chelmsford on 8th September in a decisive fashion for Marco Botti. The horse did lose his form on the track a little in the early part of 2023, so his Owners made the decision for the horse to experience a change of scenery/routine and he moved down the road to James Tate who is an experienced trainer with turnout space, a quiet yard and plenty of veterinary experience.
James spent a few weeks changing up King Of Ithaca’s routine and teaching him to settle and enjoy his job again! The horse also gained a decent amount of weight as well as some turnout time the majority of afternoons. Therefore, you can imagine Owners delight when he made his debut for James at Kempton to finish a much improved 3rd, followed by a 2nd and then a second career win at Kempton!
In 2024 King Of Ithaca was back to winning ways under a brilliant ride from Hayley Turner at Southwell on 2nd August and he finished 3rd on his subsequent run. He returned to Southwell on 2nd November and under a very cool ride from Jason Watson came from last to first to secure his 4th career win!
James would like to run King Of Ithaca through the winter on the AWT where not only are the winning opportunities greater, but also the horse acts well on the surface.

Ulysses by Galileo
Ulysses was a 5-time winner at Group level who was extremely consistent during his career. He was a winner over 8-12 furlongs and is by no other than the legendary Galileo.
His first crop of 2-year olds are in 2021 and he has already had 16 winners including Piz Badile (2nd in a Group 3 too), Mr Alan (4th in Listed Prix Isonomy), Cave Diver and 3-time winner Odisseo who Marco trains.
In 2021 his yearlings made up to 300,000gns with the average for colts 74,000gns.
Rhagori by Perugino
Rhagori was a 4-time winning Dam who was placed 7 times from 18 starts so she too was a consistent mare.
She has produced 3 foals of racing age, all of which have been winners. Aljari was trained by Marco Botti and won 4 races (one at Class 2 level!), Haykal (3yo) was a winner earlier on this year and Spinning Mist won twice in France at the age of 2.

This is a 10-owner syndicate allowing owners maximum involvement with their horse and trainer but sharing the costs and most importantly the fun. Prices are inclusive of all fees and costs, there is nothing extra to pay during the agreement. Statements detailing the syndicates finances are sent every quarter and all VAT is reclaimed on behalf of the owners.
