Parikarma is the latest to join the Heart of the South string and she is a 5-time winning mare over both codes in training with Gary Moore.
Gary has very kindly leased this mare to us after the early retirement of Tara’s Light meant Owners had very little enjoyment or days at the races. Gary has kindly done this for us in the past and we’ve done quite well in leasing horses from him – Waikiki Waves, Ruby Yeats and Jumping Cats are perfect examples!
We are very excited to be involved with 7yo Parikarma who looks to be plenty of fun for Owners over both codes. She is by 5-time Group 1 winner Canford Cliffs and out of winning Dam Pushkar with her only brother Knotty Ash being a winner himself over hurdles.
Parikarma’s race record speaks for itself and she’s been incredibly consistent over the years. Her first win came at the age of 2 when previously in training with Ed Dunlop before she moved to Gary’s in 2022 and really started to bounce to form. October 2022 saw back-to-back wins for the mare at Brighton and both of which she won in a decisive manner. Her first win over hurdles was in Class 3 company at Taunton on February 2023 and two seconds over hurdles followed this. Parikarma’s 5th career win came at Leicester in January 2024 and this notched up her 9th place in the winners enclosure from only 12 starts with Gary!
Gary says “Parikarma is a fun horse who always runs a good race and is capable of winning more in both spheres. She’s very consistent and I do believe she is better than her current form. She prefers the softer ground, is very straightforward and I’m hopeful she can build on her win last time out at Leicester.”
Parikarma will be ready to make her debut in her new silks in early February and we cannot wait to see her race!

Canford Cliffs by Tagula
Canford Cliffs was an exceptional 6f-1m horse and after winning his maiden first time out at the age of 2 he went onto win the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. As a 3 and 4 year old he won the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas, Group 1 St James’ Palace Stakes, Group 1 Sussex Stakes, Group 1 Lockinge Stakes and Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes. He rounded off his second with a 2nd behind Frankel in the Sussex Stakes before retiring to stud in 2011.
Some of his best offspring have been Listed winner Salouen, Group 2 winner Painted Cliffs, 8-time winner War Glory and Group 3 winner Al Jazi to name but a few.
Pushkar by Danehill Dancer
The Dam was a winner herself over 1m on soft ground before she retired to stud. Parikarma was her first foal before she foaled another winner over hurdles in Knotty Ash by Most Improved.
