Pyrotechnic is a 5yo French winner in training with top dual purpose trainer Gary & Josh Moore. He made his hurdling debut for the yard in November 2023 and gave a respectable run amongst some decent company before following this up with a close 2nd next time out. Pyrotechnic’s future certainly looks bright!
This imposing youngster was purchased in France by Gary and his Bloodstock agent who buys the majority of Gary’s NH prospects. They not only liked his breeding (read more below) but Pyrotechnic is also very much a Gary Moore type of NH horse – strong looking, plenty of bone and size, big nostrils and shows a real enthusiasm towards his work.
Pyrotechnic already has winning on his side too! He made his debut in a flat race over 10 furlongs in France and a decent finished 2nd, before winning on only his second start over 12 furlongs (on the bridle after kicking clear off the bend and showing a great attitude.)
His Sire Nathaniel is a dual Group 1 winner over 12-14 furlongs and as a Stallion he is probably most famous for siring multiple Group winning mare Enable, but also some very decent National Hunt offspring including Cheltenham Festival and multiple Grade 2 winning mare Concertista, Grade 1 winner Burning Victory and this years Scottish Grand National winner Kitty’s Light. .
The Dam Lightupthenight was a dual winner over 7f-1m and she was placed in a Mares Listed race in France. She has produced a 2yo filly by Showcasing (which sold for 135,000 Euros as a foal) and Pyrotechnic is her first of racing age.
Gary believes Pyrotechnic has the pedigree to be a speedy jumper and he’s already proven just that with his few starts over hurdles. Unfortunately he has since had a wind issue that required some attention and he will be on the sidelines until the autumn now. However, we are confident he will return a stronger horse and hopefully a classier one too!

Nathaniel by Galileo
Nathaniel was a fantastic racehorse running 11 times and finishing in the first 3 all bar one start! He won the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot at the age of 3 before returning there in July to win the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes comfortably. At 4 years of age he won the Group 1 Coral Eclipse and was then placed 3 times in Group 1 company.
As a Stallion he is responsible for 15-time winning wonder mare Enable and Group 1 winner Lady Bowthorpe as well as many Cheltenham Festival winners as mentioned above and the legendary Kitty’s Light who has been fantastic to watch race this season. Nathaniel holds a 50% success strike rate with his flat offspring and a 47% strike rate with his National Hunt offspring which are very impressive statistics!
Lightupthenight by Dutch Art
Lightupthenight was a 2-time winner over 7f-1m at the age of 3 and was placed in a Listed race in France and she was fairly versatile when it came to ground as she was competitive on the AWT, good and soft ground.
Her half sister Intellogent was a Group 1 French winner and is still running competitively aged 8. Her Sire is top class Stallion Dutch Art who was a dual Group 1 winner.
