After the improvement in quirky 3-time winner King of Ithaca and the success of 2yo Storm Free in 2024, it was an easy decision to purchase another potential star with trainer James Tate for the forthcoming flat season! And what a classy filly we’ve secured – by multiple Group winner Sea The Moon – who has a great record producing Group winning fillies – out of an exceedingly well bred mare Tantalize, by Derby winner Camelot. 10% shares are for sale.
Given her stamina laden pedigree, it is evident this filly will require a little patience before fully maturing into her best. Whilst there is an increasing popularity within the racing industry to secure speedy, precocious yearlings to run early as 2yos then quickly move on, we opt for a different approach at HOTSR and vast majority of our owners get involved with HOTSR for the long term. The goal is for longevity in their racehorse Ownership and to enjoy a horse’s career from start to finish – this filly certainly looks to fit that bill with both her racing and breeding potential.
James Tate is also the ideal trainer for her classy and staying pedigree, as a fully qualified vet he’s renowned for nurturing young horses so they can reach their full potential. He says:
One of the things I like to do at the sales is double tick a horse then scribble a pound sign if I feel like they will exceed our budget and that’s what I did with this filly, so I was over the moon to secure her for the price we did and do think she slipped through the net being so early in the day. She is a very well made sort with a beautiful pedigree and I’d like to dream that she will achieve Black Type like her family! She will likely enjoy a few nice races over 7f during the back end of her 2yo career, but as her pedigree strongly suggests she will only improve with age. Even now only a yearling she already oozes class, has an athletic walk and with her pedigree if she can pick up some Black Type during her career then she will be a valuable and popular Broodmare.”
The filly is now undertaking the breaking in process and already has a rider on her back. Over the winter she will gently learn more before enjoy a maturity break in the Spring, before returning to action with the view to debut over 7furlongs later summer.

Sea The Moon by Sea The Stars
Sea The Moon is from an outstanding family so it’s no surprise he was a multiple Group winner during his career. He won on debut at the age of 2 over a mile before winning a Group 3, a Group 2 and two Group 1’s including the German Derby by a hugely impressive 11 lengths!
He now stands at £32,500 and as a Sire he is certainly making his mark with a solid 22% strike rate with his 2yo’s. He has produced numerous Stakes winners in just the 6 years he’s been a sire including Group 1 winning filly Alpine Star, Group 1 winner Fantastic Moon, German Oaks winner Muskoka, Group 2 winning filly Term of Endearment, Group 3 winner Wonderful Boy, Listed winning filly Sea Of Roses plus plenty more! As you can see he does particularly well with fillies which definitely attracted us to this girl.
Tantilize by Camelot
This filly is the first foal from the unraced Dam Tantilize. Her Dam Mischief Making, by Lemon Drop Kid, was a 4-time winner who picked up Black Type at Royal Ascot who produced 6 winners from 6 runners. Half sisters to Tantilize are a Cape Cross filly named Horse Play who won the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks and More Mischief a Listed winner over 1m2f. The Cape Cross/Camelot cross is very attractive in the Dam’s pedigree!
The second Dam was a Group 1 winner and produced 8 winners and several of them too picked up Black Type.
