We have been inundated with enquiries for a new thrilling French-bred National Hunt prospect with Gary Moore and we are pleased to report after a thorough search, we have 10% shares available in the new and exciting 3yo Spirit D’Aunou!
This athletic unraced gelding was purchased in France by Gary and his Bloodstock agent whom buys the majority of Gary’s successful NH string. He also came on recommendation from top French jockey Felix De Giles who has ridden and schooled the horse himself in France and described him as “an electric jumper!”
Spirit D’Aunou is by dual Group 2 winner Triple Threat who was one of the best 3-year olds of his generation in France. He looked certain to be a Group 1 winner too (of the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic Stakes in USA) but was unfortunately badly hampered and unseated his rider 2furlongs out!
He is a relatively new Stallion with his first foals born in 2018 but he has already produced a decent amount of winners with several nice types on the flat and over hurdles including 2-time hurdle winner Purprod Boiz, Grade 2 hurdle winner Sans Bruit and recent Irish bumper winner Icare Desbois.
The Dam Miss Wind was a Black Type winner, winning 3 races over 1m2f and being placed in a Group 3 in France. All 4 of her foals who have raced have been winners which bodes well for our lad who is set to go down the bumper route before turning his hooves to jumps.
Gary Moore is delighted with his latest French acquisition and says:
He is a lovely prospect – compact, strong, with plenty of bone and has a great mind. He eats for England and already leads out my string. He is the perfect blank canvas for me to work with and has not been over prepared in France which is such a bonus. A lot of these horses from France are triple the price we bought this lad for and whilst I think he will need time and to be nurtured along at his own pace, I think he will be a very nice National Hunt prospect by a stallion who is certainly on the up.”
Spirit D’Aunou has been with Gary a matter of weeks to familiarise himself with the routine before going to enjoy a short paddock break to mature further. Gary expects him to be making his debut in bumpers this autumn before commencing his hurdling career – we cannot wait to get him started!
