We are a family-run team with over 30 years of knowledge and a genuine love for horse racing and thoroughbreds. Our reputation and commitment to our Owners and horses is very well established in the industry and we believe that honesty, communication, and always putting our horses welfare first – during their racing careers and after – is what makes us unique.
As a close, tight-knit team you can expect a trusted syndicate who are invested in the horses, trainers, and your journey into racehorse ownership. We will be by your side at every step – liaising with trainers daily, arranging visits to see your horses whenever you wish, organising race day requirements, syndicate administration and accounting, hosting annual Owner Events, regularly watching your horse as they progress and with any luck sharing in your victories!

Eloise Adamski
Racing Manager
Growing up immersed in all things equestrian, Eloise spent her childhood riding and competing. With a passion for horseracing, she began working in racing hospitality and sales at Brighton Racecourse, before joining Heart of the South Racing in 2005, alongside her father John Penny, to grow the business from just 6 syndicates to 14!
Eloise now runs Heart of the South Racing with a blend of professionalism and warmth, always providing a fantastic ownership experience – win, lose or draw! Her 20-year career with Heart of the South has been underpinned by her commitment to helping owners find the right opportunity, and our horses find their next home.
Sam Bridle
Racing Executive
We were fortunate to have the wonderful Sam join our team back in 2012, becoming the hub of our office full time. This enables a member of the team to always be present when Owners visit their horses and for us to be able to visit all of our trainers yards regularly as well as organise multiple group visits for Owners. Sam frequently represents us at the races too.
Sam is a huge asset to the team and her dedication and attention to detail means all syndicate administration, accounts, and Owners communications are undertaken promptly and to a high standard. She also looks after the Owners & Trainers at Brighton Racecourse through the summer too!
John Penny
Founder of HOTSR
Formally MD of Systematic Telecoms Ltd, John’s love affair with racing has been a big influence behind Heart of the South Racing & Bloodstock. He worked for the British Horseracing Board for 3 years before starting Heart of the South as a hobby 30 years ago!
John is now retired from day-to-day work, but he often represents us at the races. He is on-hand when purchasing the foals/yearlings at the sales as his bloodline racing knowledge is second to none – he is the man responsible for securing the bargain that is Alpha Crucis!
Biscuit & Winnie
Office Security
As well as a love for horses, Sam & Eloise also have a love for dogs (and most animals to be fair!) and many involved with HOTSR will know our office dogs – Biscuit & Winnie who have been coming to the office since they were puppies and love doing so!
The girls oversea the day-to-day running of things & are in charge of security, but they are always happy to see Owners (especially if you can spare a carrot!) They are normally in the office on different days however, as not much work gets done when they are in together!
