19th September 2016 Jockey Silvestre De Sousa
Raven’s Lady wins her first race on just her third start, and there certainly looks more to come from this exciting filly! She was unlucky not to have won last time out, but it all fell right for her today. Not only did she score the almighty £36,770 prize money on offer (as it was a Plus 10/Book 1 Bonus race) but she gave a very eye-catching performance.
Raven’s Lady broke extremely well from the stalls so Silvestre De Sousa decided to let the horse go forward and in fact he rode the filly like she was the best in the race. Raven’s Lady absolutely loved leading the field, with her ears picked throughout. On the turn for home, Silvestre remained sitting motionless whilst the rest of the field were under pressure behind. With just a squeeze of the reins at the furlong marker, Raven’s Lady picked up well and she kicked on clear to win by 3 1/4 lengths.
After the race Silvestre was very complimentary about Raven’s Lady and described her as “a special filly!” He also added “she has a professional attitude and showed a decent turn of foot. I think you could drop her back in trip to 6 furlongs at some point.”
Trainer Marco Botti was absolutely delighted and has always maintained that Raven’s Lady was a nice filly so it is great to see him proved right.
Congratulations to Raven’s Lady’s connections and a huge well done to the horse. She looks to be one to follow in the future!
