Reckon I’m Hot (nicknamed Bolt) has been such a fun and consistent horse for Owners over the two seasons, but now is the time for the young horse to hang up his racing plates and retire from racing.
Since purchasing this gorgeous horse at the Tattersalls Foal Sales he’s been nothing but a gent to deal with! He’s a horse who has thoroughly enjoyed being in training with Gary Moore and has such a genuine heart and smashing personality.
Reckon I’m Hot made his racecourse debut back in 2021 and since then he’s gone onto be placed over sprint distances 9 times (many of which being incredibly close!) Whilst we all adore Bolt, he was unable to win in lowly graded races and therefore towards the end of his 4yo campaign his Owners did have to ask the questions – is there a reason Bolt cannot get his head in front? Does he want to be a racehorse? Is there something stopping him from pushing through that pain barrier? And therefore he was retired in October 2023.
The good news however is Bolt found the most wonderful of homes with Olivia who plays for the Women’s Polo team! Bolt moved to a yard in Devon to enjoy some time off before he will be retrained to be a polo horse – something we are sure he will thrive at! He will also enjoy teaching people how to play polo and just enjoying a life post racing where he will be spoilt rotten.
We are really looking forward to visiting him in retirement at the end of June with some of his Owners and cannot wait to hear about all of his adventures!
NB – update! As of early 2024 we’ve been informed that the winner of Bolt’s race at Bath in May 2023 has since been disqualified which means Reckon I’m Hot is official a winner! It seems a bit bittersweet now that he’s been retired but we will race a glass to him when we visit in June.
