11th March 2023, Jockey Jamie Moore
A big congratulations to connections of Spirit D’Aunou as he completes the hattrick and scores another win despite carrying top weight in heavy ground conditions.
He looked fabulous in the preliminaries and Jamie rode another good race settling Spirit (who was keen for the first few strides) behind the leaders with cover. His jumping was pretty much foot perfect and he looked to enjoy the soft ground conditions. He travelled sweetly throughout and when Jamie started to apply the pressure approaching the 2nd last Spirit responded gamely. He did have more of a battle this time against Havaila but Spirit was very genuine, battling hard and going onto win his 3rd race!
Everyone was over the moon with the horse and Jamie described him as “the perfect racehorse in the making who continues to improve with each run.”
Spirit D’Aunou has come out of this race well and all being well could race again this season at Ascot on 2nd April if the ground is soft. He is such a willing and genuine individual and 2111 as a race record is not too bad at all for his first season!
A big well done to groom Lisa and work rider Anna who does a lot of the homework with him.
