23rd August 2017, Jockey Martin Harley
All of our horses at Heart of the South Racing mean a lot to us, but we have a major soft spot for Velvet Revolution and it was fantastic to see him return to his winning ways at Kempton Park on 23rd August.
It was a drop down in grade but there was a slight question mark over the horse’s ideal trip. Jockey Martin Harley was instructed to sit towards the rear of the field and gradually track his way through, and he did exactly that, giving Velvet Revolution a perfectly timed ride! The horse traveled strongly throughout and on the final turn for home was cruising into contention. He responded well when asked to quicken in the closing stages and went onto win by a cosy 2 1/4 lengths!
Jockey Martin Harley gets on with this horse so well and his feedback was “he traveled strongly and really enjoyed coming through horses in the home straight. He stays the 2 mile trip and producing him at the last minute is definitely the way to ride him. I’m delighted with the horse.”
Trainer Marco Botti was also very happy and feels we could be in for some more fun with Velvet Revolution if we manage him correctly and place him in the right races. He adds “based on his performance at Kempton he should be competitive at a higher level” so hopefully plenty to look forward to.
We could not be happier for the lovely Velvet Revolution and his connections, and we are looking forward to his next start already!
