24th April 2019, Jockey Jamie Moore
Waikiki Waves completes the hat-trick beating his only rival at Fontwell Park to secure another win over the larger obstacles! Congratulations to his connections!
Originally a 5-runner race, it was a shame to see so many horses drop out due to the ground (which Gary felt was perfect and had a good covering of grass) so it did turn out to be quite a tactical affair with just two runners left. Jamie Moore felt Waikiki Waves could either make the running or take a lead and the pair ended up switching positions throughout the race. Waikiki Waves did have to be revved up a little but he once again jumped foot perfect and pulled away from his rival on the turn for home to win well.
After the race Jamie said “He did get a bit lonely with just one other horse for company and I did have to niggle him a little but he did it well, it is another win over fences which is something he clearly really enjoys.”
Trainer Gary Moore was delighted with the run and feels if we treat him right that the horse could progress into a Sussex National horse next season!
Waikiki Waves has come out of his race well and we are delighted to have enjoyed such a great season over fences with this little horse -it is safe to say he has well and truly stolen the hearts of his Owners! He will now enjoy a well deserved holiday over the summer before returning to racing in the Autumn.
