Waikiki Waves 100% success rate at Leicester!

16th November 2020, Joshua Moore

Congratulations to the Owners of our very own little star Waikiki Waves as he triumphs again over fences, scoring his 6th win over the large obstacles.

The fences at Leicester really do take some jumping but this is Waikiki Waves’ forte and he jumped with springs in his heels! He showed confidence under a fine ride from Josh Moore who gave the horse plenty of daylight at his fences and got him jumping in a nice rhythm. He was a little caught for speed as the field quickened in the home straight but once he got himself together he picked up beautifully and won going away. This was arguably his best win off a career high mark – well done Waikiki!

Josh was delighted with the horse and said “This is a real jumpers track and he loved it; it’s his jumping that wins him races. I feel going forward if we look at similar tracks with proper fences, you’d see him improve again.”

Waikiki Waves has come out of the race well and after such a rotten day for the team at Cisswood Stables on Monday, Waikiki’s win certainly lifted their and our spirits and he has been showered in cuddles and carrots!

Below are some official photographs taken by racecourse photographer Tony Knapton. Copies can be ordered via email at knaptontony@gmail.com. The last two images were taken by ourselves.

Really super ride by Josh / keep thinking coming around the last bend that if lucky he would grab a place . But really didn’t expect him to win going away . Looking back at the past when he ran at Sandown last year class 3 race (or was it Kempton ) with Jamie up he was in a winning position when coming to the last and had he not tried to uproot the last would I think have won. ended up 5th I think (But that’s racing) What a grand little horse he is and how lucky we are to be involved with him / Now we wait for Garys thoughts on where we go next !!! Thank you Heart of The South for helping us get through another week of this very odd winter . Regards Howard & Alison Isle of Wight
