2019 got off to a brilliant start for HOTSR and the Owners of Waikiki Waves, as our first runner of the year saw us land a winner! Congratulations to all!
After some encouraging schooling sessions at home over fences, trainer Gary Moore was keen to try Waikiki Waves over the larger obstacles. He made his chasing debut in a 5-runner field at Lingfield Park and what a round of jumping he gave! Some brilliant leaps saw Waikiki Waves get into a nice rhythm, making up ground at his fences and looking to thoroughly enjoy himself throughout. The 6yo travelled well under a brilliant Jamie Moore ride and went onto win with a little in hand despite the ground and trip thought to not suit him. It appears the break in between his races was needed for the horse and we are thrilled for his delighted Owners!
After the race Jamie said “a small field and daylight at his fences has really helped him today. He jumped great and has taken to chasing well. It’s great to get a winner for HOTSR and hopefully the horse can build on this.”
A huge congratulations once again to Waikiki Waves’ Owners and to Gary and his team, we are really pleased for you all. It was our first runner over fences since the Fruity O’Rooney days and what a day to remember! Hopefully the little horse can continue to enjoy a successful chasing career.
