During Spring 2016 Heart of the South Racing had a flourish of winners and 4 close seconds giving our owners something to celebrate.
However in the impatient world of horse racing, what gives us even greater pleasure is that a number of these successes have come from older horses in which the partnerships have been running for many years. Sir Robert Cheval, Marmalady, Zambeasy and Good Luck Charm all notched up wins and close seconds and arguably ran career best performances in decent races.
Many flat syndicates nowadays only offer short term ownership, with horses running for a maximum of one or two seasons before being sold on. For the horse lover this often poses a problem. You’ve fallen in love with your racehorse, finally found out it’s preferred ground/trip, enjoyed a win or two, and just as it’s fully matured (horses keep growing until they are 5) it’s sold.
At Heart of the South Racing, if we have a good horse and a nice bunch of owners, we work extremely hard to keep the partnership together – and more often than not patience pays off.
The vast majority of owners in the older horses mentioned above, have been involved since their horse’s 2-year old career and to see their horse still winning (and improving!) is an ownership dream for many. Sir Robert Cheval was even the result of our first ever breeding syndicate so some of his owners have really be involved from day 1!
If you love your horses, feel their welfare is imperative and enjoy the prospect of a long-term ownership involvement, Heart of the South Racing is first past the post.
