27th October 2010, Jockey Ryan Moore
The legend that is South Cape continues to thrive as he wins his ninth race on his 60th career start! This horse has now won over £110,000 in prize money!
Our home bred 7-year old also won this race in 2009 but this year carried top weight and raced off a mark 7lb higher. You wouldn’t think a 7-year old would still be improving but South Cape has had possibly his best season yet, with two wins and placed efforts at Ascot, Goodwood (twice) and Windsor. He is our little super star!
Today under the experienced steering of Ryan Moore, South Cape made it look easy. Ryan was full of smiles in the Winners Enclosure saying “he is such a genuine horse who never stops trying. He loves the ground, travelled really well throughout and always felt like winning.”
Full praise must go to Ryan as his timing (once again) was impeccable and as one happy owner emailed “Ryan made a tricky sixteen runner handicap look like an uncompetitive five or six horse runner race.”
