29th July 2015, Jockey William Twiston-Davies
Zambeasy wins again – congratulations to all owners!
The horse gave a fantastic performance; he settled beautifully out in front, travelled well and was given a great ride from young William Twiston-Davies. Zambeasy led from start to finish – not once getting headed – and it was great to see him stay on gamely up the Sandown Park hill. We are so delighted to see him get his nose in front!
Zambeasy was due to run at Sandown Park a week prior to this race but trainer Philip Hide decided against it and wanted to wait for today’s race instead, where we knew a wetter weather forecast was due. He certainly did the right thing as the juice in the ground was ideal for Zambeasy and he relished coming up the hill. We know ideally Zambeasy is more of a 1 mile 4 furlong horse but Philip thought 1 mile 2 furlongs at a track like Sandown Park would suit the horse well – and how right he was!
Zambeasy finished a respectable 3rd and a close 2nd on his last two starts before this race so he was definitely a deserving winner today! After the race William Twiston-Davies was very pleased with Zambeasy. He said “the horse has matured a lot and he is settling much better in his races, even on his way down to the start I could feel the difference. He continues to improve with each run and he has won off his career highest mark so I’m very happy with him.”
A huge well done must go to Philip! Once again he got it spot on with this horse and we are thrilled to bits for him and his team. We had a full house of owners in attendance too so congratulations to you all – to have a winner at Sandown Park was fantastic!
