22nd April 2016 Jockey Joshua Moore
It was superb to see our latest purchase Zante – who was only bought in France in February – win over hurdles on only his 3rd attempt of asking. He made it look very easy and will certainly be a fun jumping prospect for the future.
The ground at Plumpton made all the difference and had dried out sufficiently for the horse to literally bounce off the top. Zante, who was pretty keen early on, jumped foot perfect except for one hurdle and travelled so strongly throughout the race. Staying on up the hill, he also finished with a little to spare. Jockey Joshua Moore is the perfect rider for newcomer Zante and his current confidence in the saddle literally oozes down to the horse.
It was a great victory for the syndicate too with nearly all owners present to celebrate with each other, drink champagne and generally get excited about the horse’s future! Josh’s post race feedback was “he’s improving all the time and after a summers break maturing he will easily stay 2½ miles and certainly has the scope to jump a fence. There is a lot to like about him.”
Zante has a mark of 102 to work with and Gary is confident of seeing this horse win again. We look forward to seeing him improve further.

We are also extremely grateful to one of Zante’s owners, for sharing his amazing photos from Plumpton too. What a fabulous story they tell! Copies can be ordered by emailing Peter directly at bottomlineonline@hotmail.com
