Big congratulations to connections of STORM FREE as he achieves his 3rd career win – this time at Southwell!
With the warm weather/firm ground sticking around and STORM FREE ready and raring to race, the decision was for the horse to return to the AWT and we are glad we did! STORM FREE looked a picture and was his usual gentlemanly self in the preliminaries of his race. He broke sharply out of the stalls and adopted a good position, in touch with the leaders. When the field started to quicken in the home straight STORMY found himself boxed in and took a little while to get going. However, as soon as Hector pulled him right STORM FREE stayed on strongly to put his race to bed comfortably!
It was lovely to have jockey Hector Crouch back on board as he has ridden and been a lucky jockey for HOTSR for many years! He felt the horse was a little rusty having not raced on this surface for a while, but he got the job done very well!
STORMY is such a fun and consistent syndicate horse and hopefully we can enjoy a return to the turf with him this autumn with some softer ground conditions under his hooves!
