Congratulations to connections of Storm Free as he wins for the second time during his 3-year old season!
This was arguably the toughest contest he has lined up in thus far and although we were thrilled to be returning to the turf, we were concerned they were coming down the rail where we were drawn which was turning the ground quite boggy. However, we didn’t need to fear! The horse broke well and had a lovely position on the rail where he settled and travelled beautifully under jockey Rossa Ryan. As they started to come under pressure in the closing stages, Stormy was one of the last off the bridle and when Rossa asked him for an effort and to go for the clearing that presented itself, it was pleasing to see Storm Free power forward and there really was no stopping him! He went onto win his second career race, beating some nice rivals in the process.
Rossa was very pleased with the horses attitude and felt he coped with the ground, trip and track very well. As was trainer James Tate who has always hold Storm Free in high regard and was thrilled to see it all come together.
We expect Storm Free to finish his 3yo career in a mark of the 90’s which gives us plenty to look forward to in 2026! From Stormy’s 7 starts thus far he’s finished in the frame 6 times and there looks to be plenty more to come from this youngster.
Please see below some photographs taken on the day by ourselves.
