26th January 2020, Jockey Joshua Moore
Congratulations to the connections of Ruby Yeats as she secures her first win since 2016 at Fontwell Park in an emphatic fashion.
After two disappointing performances over fences, trainer Gary Moore made the decision for this 9yo mare to return to hurdles. She looked the pick of the paddock prior to the race and with plenty of early pace predicted the tactics instructed to Josh Moore were to settle the horse towards the rear, get her jumping fluently and increase her confidence. It was a fantastic ride from Josh who was having to get to work on Ruby Yeats early on, but his persistence paid off as the mare’s confidence started to build, her jumping improved and once coming around the final bend she was hot on the leading trio’s heels. Some great leaps in the home straight saw Ruby Yeats pull clear and she went onto win comfortably.
The pair were welcomed into the winners enclosure with an almighty cheer for delighted connections and we couldn’t be more pleased for them. A huge thank you to Sue Somner too who is allowing us to lease this horse for the forthcoming season.
Ruby Yeats has come out of her race in good order and is likely to stick with hurdles for the time being. We are looking forward to her next start already!
